It's not always easy being the one and only Dragon Knight....Sir Scaly Pants (who Charlotte still likes to refer to as "Sir Scallypants!") is back for his second adventure and John Kelly's supergreen hero is finding life as a knight of the realm a little tougher than he'd imagined.
In this adventure, a rather different dragon has kidnapped the king. Sir Scaly Pants always wants to do what's right, so sets off atop his noble steed Guinevere to rescue the monarch before he ends up a toasty dragon-sized snack.
It's an epic quest that takes in the amazing scenery of the landscape but when they finally catch up with the wicked king-napping dragon, Scaly knows he's met his match. This big dragon is a huge fire-breathing bully - or at least that's how it seems at first.
Will Sir Scaly Pants get to the bottom of this strange kidnapping and perhaps come out of the other side of the adventure unscathed and with a brand new scaly friend?
John Kelly's books are utterly charming and drop-dead gorgeous to look at. Hugely entertaining for little (and not quite so little) ones who love a knight-filled romp or two.
"Sir Scaly Pants and the Dragon Thief" by John Kelly is out now, published by Bloomsbury (kindly supplied for review).
