Booky Advent Calendar 2017 Day 5: "The Accidental Father Christmas" by Tom McLaughlin (OUP / Oxford Children's Books)

We couldn't let our Booky Advent Calendar go by without featuring a few awesome festive Chapter Books in with the usual picture book fare, so we're delighted to see a new book from comedy genius Tom McLaughlin...
"The Accidental Father Christmas" is another hilarious book in Tom's hugely popular "Accidental" series (we've really loved "Billionaire" and "Prime Minister" and these books are INSANELY popular at C's school.

This time, a young boy named Ben has one important thing on his Christmas list

Every year he wants the same thing -  he wants his dad to be at home for Christmas.

Sadly, so far, his wish has never comes true and Ben's starting to get a bit sceptical about Father Christmas's very existence

Ben decides that he needs proof.

So, on Christmas Eve, he sets up an elaborate booby trap to capture the jolly bearded fella as he comes sliding down the chimney, kicking off a sequence of hilarious events that makes this Christmas the most bonkers ever!

Tom's razor sharp observational comedy and kid-friendly topics make his books an absolute win for Charlotte and her friends. They're going to be absolutely overjoyed to see a fantastic christmas caper from Tom.

The final word should really go to C who summarises Tom's books thus:

"BRILLIANT BRILLIANT BRILLIANT BRILLIANT BRILLIANT!" - Pretty much a solid recommendation if ever I've seen one.

"The Accidental Father Christmas" by Tom McLaughlin is out now, published by OUP / Oxford Children's Books (kindly supplied for review).
