Dino Duckling by Alison Murray (Little, Brown)

Here's a neat twist on a story that has appeared in many different forms for generations. We rather love the idea of mixing in a bit of dino fun here though...
In "Dino Duckling" by Alison Murray Mother Duck nestles and nurtures her egg, but even as an egg, Dino Duckling is different from all the other baby ducks.

When he's finally born, no one seems to notice that he's actually a dinosaur!

Mama Duck knows that there is plenty of room for difference in a loving family, but there's one big problem: How will Dino Duckling fly south for the winter with just a pair of short scaly stubbly arms?

Can Dino Duckling ever truly belong?

There are so many awesome messages to take from a book like this about being different yet still fitting in, and about prejudice, family love and of course motherly love too. Such a cute little fluffy duck of a book (and no, we daren't mention the 'E' word (easter) yet but this would be a perfect substitute for a chocolate egg, just sayin'!)

"Dino Duckling" by Alison Murray is out now, published by L & B Kids (kindly supplied for review).
