"Steve, Terror of the Seas" by Megan Brewis (OUP / Oxford Children's Books)

Here's a funny book with such a hilarious payoff that we just couldn't resist its charms...
In "Steve, Terror of the Seas" meet a tiny little blue stripy fish who, for some unknown reason, seems to send all the other fish and non-fishy inhabitants under the waves scurrying for cover as soon as he swims into view.

Steve doesn't understand it.

He's small.

He doesn't have large scary teeth.

He doesn't even like eating the other fish, so what's going on?

There's a gag here that's so beautifully delivered that we don't want to spoil it for you but here's a tiny clue. Steve is a Pilot Fish so see if you can guess who Steve's bestest friend in the whole world is...might that be part of why Steve is the terror of the seas?

What a great little book and there are tons of facts about Pilot fish (and their, ahem, best buddies) at the back for kids to dig into.

C's best bit: She had guessed the pay off a bit before it was deliciously delivered but still loved the reveal.

Daddy's favourite bit: A fun book that's full of awesome references to undersea life, perfect for your wee little ocean-going adventurers.
