Without a doubt this year's trend in children's books has definitely been all about inspiring women. Rightly so, say we...!In a year when we've seen and reviewed SO MANY books celebrating awesome women throughout history (at least 20 and counting including this one) a title really needs to do something distinctly different to catch our eye.
So it is with "I Am A Wonder Woman" by Ellen Bailey.
Rather than taking the usual boring approach of showing a neat illustration of the person in question next to a list of facts, Ellen draws in younger readers by also providing some truly inspired and brilliant activities to really help you engage with and understand the women she's talking about in this book.
For example there's super-author J.K. Rowling...
Awesome activities based around some of our favourite female characters in history |
And for Michelle Obama...
Make a positive change like Michelle! |
This is such a brilliant approach, mixing interesting facts in with some really awesome ideas for activities for home or school. What a great little book, truly wonderful in fact!
C's best bit: Trying to put herself in the shoes of Ada Lovelace, the first computer programmer.
Daddy's favourite bit: A really inspired and original approach to developing interest and engagement in an amazing list of awesome women. We like this one a lot!
"I Am A Wonder Woman" by Ellen Bailey is out now, published by Michael O'Mara Books (kindly supplied for review).
