"A Cat's Guide to the Night Sky" by Stuart Atkinson and Brendan Kearney (Laurence King Publishing)

There's something really involving and atmospheric about finding the perfect spot for a bit of stargazing...
Though we live in a busy town, and light pollution is always a problem, we are lucky enough to be able to head out into the countryside to find a good spot on nearby hills to indulge in a bit of astronomy.

We always imagined that cats probably spend a lot of time staring into space (well, I always remember ours doing just that a lot!) so it's quite appropriate to have "A Cat's Guide to the Night Sky" by Stuart Atkinson and Brendan Kearney feature a fluffy floofball who just loves gazing at the stars.

The book gives would-be space cadets all they need to be able to identify all the constellations in the night sky, along with some great tips on what to collect and what you'll need for a night-time expedition to your favourite stargazing spot (at this time of year, wrap up warm as it's getting colder out there!)

The countryside is definitely the best place to spot stars on a crisp clear night.
Engaging and atmospheric illustrations are complimented by simple text (plus that scene-stealing cat) so that littlies can explore the heavens and develop their own interest in what's going on in the night sky.

Wouldn't you love a room like this? We would!
Perfect for kids who are just beginning to learn about space, and want to find out how they can explore from the comfort of their own home, or on a nocturnal expedition to star-spot.

"A Cat's Guide to the Night Sky" by Stuart Atkinson and Brendan Kearney is out now, published by Laurence King Publishing (kindly supplied for review).
