Here's an awesome way to introduce your children to the wonderful world of Alice in Wonderland...Quite often the problem we have had in the past with approaching the classics is that for the most part the original text is pretty...unapproachable.
We've stumbled with "Wind in the Willows" when C was smaller, and also Peter Pan - and alas we even had a heck of a time getting through Lewis Carroll's original "Alice in Wonderland" and "Alice through the looking glass"
So it's great to see a junior-friendly version of a children's classic given a new lease of life with some truly stunning illustrations to underpin the simplified but still fantastic story.
"Alice's Wonderland Tea Party" by Poppy Bishop and Laura Brennla does just that, and gives us the gist of the original story of young Alice and her adventures in the daydreamy wonderscape of Wonderland.
Not a monarch to be trifled with. The Queen of Hearts. |
This is a really excellent version of Carroll's original story, and the artwork is particularly brilliant - feeling a lot like classic 60s US "Little Golden" books, full of charm and character. There's the added awesomeness of a ton of 'lift the flap' elements within the pages too, starting with Alice's invitation to the tea party itself. What a great idea!
"Alice's Wonderland Tea Party" by Poppy Bishop and Laura Brenlla is out now, published by Little Tiger Press (kindly supplied for review).
