"The Clue is in the Poo (and other stuff too)" by Andy Seed and Claire Almon (QED Publishing)

It's not often we get to kick up a stink about a poo-based book, this one is 'turdally' brilliant though...

OK we probably shouldn't go too mad with the plop-based puns but "The Clue is in the Poo (and other stuff too)" by Andy Seed and Claire Almon might actually turn your kids into nature detectives.

Oh yes, if you (like us) like to venture out into the woods and parks at the weekend, you'll know for sure that you might not see nature but it can see you - and it always leaves trails, clues and - er - deposits around for us to discover, no matter where you live.

Through a bit of observation (not too close though, phew!) and using a few simple bits of kit, you too can find the unique signs that animals leave behind.

Big stinky poos, tiny little poos, it's all there for you to discover - and thankfully the book isn't just about poop - there are other (less stinky) clues that'll show you where animals love to hang out.

Nature. Red in tooth and claw, brown in bum-hole!
The book details how to check an environment for gnawed twigs, pine cones - or even other animals that have been partially scoffed - and what (or who) might have been responsible.

Big poos, little poos, poos that land on rocks.
It's a coprophagic whistle-stop tour through the animal kingdom from a guy who really knows how to talk crap (we do mean that in the nicest possible way, honestly!)

Claire Almon's illustrations are fabulous too, no one brings poo to life quite like Claire!

C's best bit: Learning about different animal skeletons and skulls (yes, it's not just about poop)

Daddy's favourite bit: Has to be one of the most unique ways of presenting a book about nature and animals. Really brilliant!

"The Clue is in the Poo (and other stuff too)" by Andy Seed and Claire Almon is out now, published by QED Publishing (kindly supplied for review).
