So it's rather refreshing to encounter a book that definitely dishes up animals that really aren't 'ordinary' in any way.
"Who are you calling weird?" by Marilyn Singer and Paul Daviz is definitely a celebration of strange and wonderful animals, with one of our personal favourites, the fabulous Aye Aye adorning the cover.
This little hook-fingered Lemur species from Madagascar is the perfect cover star for a book about some of the more obscure animals and birds, fish and other species that live on our fascinating planet.
These animals might look or behave in peculiar ways but, as the reader will soon find out, every oddity serves a purpose.
From the green fur of a three-toed sloth, to the pink and wiggly appendage of the star-nosed mole, there’s something new to marvel at on every page.
