"Llama Glamarama" By Simon James Green and Garry Parsons (Scholastic)

Here's a fun and eyepoppingly glitzy book that has a simple but heartfelt message at its core. It's OK to be different!

In fact in the case of "Llama Glamarama" by Simon James Green and Garry Parsons, the titular Llama in question - Larry - is fed up with life amongst a bunch of squares. They don't like music, they don't like dancing, and they definitely do NOT like glittery hot pants or glitzy outfits.

So Larry decides it's time to run away when he's confronted by his Llama peers.

It's the start of a journey of self discovery, as Larry is drawn to the buzz and glamour of a local festival, where he soon finds that there are tons of creatures just like him who love to live it up, love loud music, and love listening to Llama Del Rey (this was the only bit of the book that elicited a huge groan from us, what a terrible but funny punny name!)

Larry's new life makes him happy but he wistfully wonders what would happen if he just went back to his 'family' and was brutally honest.

The answer surprises him, and it might just surprise you too!

Sum this book up in a sentence: A fabulous life lesson wrapped around rainbow-glittery colours and superb characters, imparting the valuable message that it's super--fine and OK to be different!

"Llama Glamarama by Simon James Green and Garry Parsons is out now, published by Scholastic (kindly supplied for review).
