Atlas of Adventures
Written by Rachel Williams
Illustrated by Lucy Letherland
Published by Wide Eyed Editions
Oh, oh, oh, oh, OHHHHH this is a geographical treat, a global spectacle, a truly earth-shattering view of planet earth. We love geography books and atlases (and yes, we fully acknowledge and understand that this is probably slightly weird) but in Rachel Williams and Lucy Letherland's "Atlas of Adventures" the possibilities are endless for diving into our world and finding out a metric ton of amazing things.
Wide Eyed Editions are going to be a publisher to keep an eye on (pun intended) if this is to be the standard of their books. Packed into a huge format (which is brilliant for sprawling on the floor with) and chock full of astonishing illustrations, maps and points of interest (and a great dose of humour throughout!).
It doesn't stop there. Woven into the gloriously illustrated page spreads are a ton of activities for children to engage with. Your budding explorers will really get a huge kick out of the puzzles and challenges, and be lost in a world of discovery for hours.
As we mentioned a the top of the review, this is really our cup of tea and it's been fantastic diving into this again and again, and also using it as a handy reference for any geography-based learning that Charlotte is doing at school.
Exquisitely detailed, huge fun and most importantly wholly engrossing and engaging. Bravo to Rachel, Lucy and Wide Eyed for an utterly fantastic debut!
Charlotte's best bit: I think she's a budding polar explorer as she finds Antarctica immensely fascinating (and it's definitely her fave section in this)
Daddy's Favourite bit: With books like this, kids will absolutely love diving into a world of discovery based around our beautiful planet. What a stunning book!
