It's the day of the picnic party and the residents of Big City are busy making preparations, when disaster strikes!
Mr Fizz's pop shop has run dry, there's not a single bottle of Dandelion and Burdock on the shelves, but there's worse news, Mrs Appleton's bakery has also run out of gorgeous tasty comestibles! CAT-ASTROPHE!
But what's that in the sky? Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No wait, it's a mask-wearing kitty and her band of amazing animal superheroes, ready to save the day, hooray!
They're hot on the trail of the culprit - but with a twist in the tale, the miscreant might not be an evil genius after all!
Sum this book up in a sentence: Colourful, zappy and full of awesomeness, it's the sort of picture book that could keep a bunch of kids absolutely enchanted from first page to last.
"Superkitty vs Mousezilla" by Hannah Whitty and Paula Bowles is out on 19th March 2020, published by Simon and Schuster Children's Books (kindly supplied for review).

Child's Play always have an eye for fabulous books for early years and they're getting 2017 off to a very busy start with two brand new books for younger children.
In "My Tail's Not Tired" by Jana Novotny Hunter and Paula Bowles, you'll meet the most mischievous and adorable little monster ever!
Little Monster has a lot of energy and every single part of her body likes to move in different ways.
Children will love joining in as Big Monster and Little Monster wiggle and wriggle their way through the day, with a tail that won't stop waving to and fro, eyes that won't close, legs and feet that love to jump and bound, and of course a wiggly monster bottom!
But what happens when it's time for bed? Will Little Monster ever settle? Poor Big Monster is getting worn out!
A fabulous book for children to join in the actions with, and a fun read-aloud story.
"My Tail's Not Tired" by Jana Novotny Hunter and Paula Bowles is out now, published by Child's Play.
We also loved "Quiet!" by Kate Alizadeh. It's a busy noisy house and one little girl can hear all the noises happening all around her.
Take a moment or two out of your busy day to stop, listen and hear all the sounds that the house makes. Is that the fridge whirring? Are the radiators singing?

The text and sensory clues to be found in this enchanting, inclusive picture book allow us to experience our home through its many noises. Auditory landmarks help all children to become familiar with daily routines, and can be particularly important to those who are blind or partially sighted.
It's also another wonderful "join-in" book and younger children will love making all the noises in the book themselves.
"Quiet" by Kate Alizadeh is out now, published by Child's Play. (Both books kindly supplied for review)

Little Lou and the Woolly Mammoth
Written and Illustrated by
Paula Bowles
Published by Bloomsbury Publishing
Books that celebrate children's endless curiosity always pique our interest. Curious Charlotte definitely identified with the little girl in this book for several reasons. 1) She does have a fairly messy room when she gets all her toys and books out and 2) She would definitely have pulled that piece of wool too...!
A piece of wool? Yep that's how this story starts off, with a little girl called Little Lou and a solitary strand of yarn sticking out from a huge pile of toys. Little Lou wants to know what this wriggly fuzzy piece of wool is, so like most kids, she pulls it and soon unravels a HUGE WOOLLY MAMMOTH!
Now, as you'd expect, Little Lou is a little bit surprised and scared by this new blue (and huge) visitor, and isn't quite sure that a child's room is the right place for a huge woolly mammoth. But Mammoth has other ideas, and soon Little Lou finds that curiosity can be rewarded - sometimes with an amazing friendship that stretches to the moon and back, far longer than any random piece of wool.
We won't spoil the twist in this yarn-entwined tale but it's rather lovely, in fact the whole book has that warm fuzzy cuddly feeling about it - a bit like a gigantic woolly mammoth in fact. Just never feed it dustballs otherwise you'll never get rid of it :)
Charlotte's best bit: The mammoth first appears, and he's HUGE! Eek! A little bit daunting for a little girl
Daddy's Favourite bit: Warm, fuzzy, charming and funny - and celebrates a child's endless curiosity perfectly
