Flying to Neverland with Peter Pan
This luxuriously presented hardback book is such a tease! Turning up at a point where Charlotte has just seen the Disney 'Peter Pan' films and is still buzzing after seeing Disney's fantastic 20th Anniversary celebrations at Disneyland Paris, the timing couldn't be better.
But as I said, oh what a tease! Taking two songs from the classic Peter Pan broadway show, written by the late Adolph Green, the book offers a tantalising glimpse at Peter Pan's world, and of course a hefty dose of the opening scenes of J.M Barrie's timeless children's book.
It's a truly lovely book but we would've been absolutely over the moon to see it carry on, and follow right through the story with Amy June Bates' utterly perfect artwork.
As it stands though, it's fantastic sing-a-long stuff and any child who loves Peter Pan will fall in love with it.
Altogether now, second star to the right, straight on till morning!
Charlotte's best bit: "Wendy is me!" (this is pretty much the standard response to any form of Peter Pan, she loves Wendy to bits!)
Daddy's favourite bit: Great songs but the artwork makes this stand out head and shoulders above the rest. Utterly perfect paintings chock full of magic and atmosphere.
