The Octonauts and the Undersea Eruption (Simon and Schuster Children's Books)

Everyone has their favourite Octonaut. Personally I love Kwazii- He's a bit like a miniature cat-like version of Nick Fury from Shield, crossed with a pirate. Charlotte adores Dashi (and often asks for two hair slides on the same side, Dashi style).

Though she's a bit old for Octonauts now (and we canned watching TV as she got older) she still loves The Octonauts with its mix of exciting undersea adventure and lots of facts and figures about the lifeforms you can find dwelling under the waves.

In this adventure, Captain Barnacles assembles the team when an undersea volcano threatens to erupt, obliterating all the creatures in the vicinity. The Octonauts launch the gups to rescue the animals before it's too late, but one rather happy little fellow - a blobfish - gets left behind.

Can the Octonauts rescue him in time?

As a TV tie in, this is a great little book. Personally I absolutely love the original Meomi books that inspired the series, but the direct tie-ins are still very good indeed. They're great for stimulating conversations about marine life, and it was great to be able to show Charlotte just how WEIRD the real Blobfish is.

I mean look at this fellah!

A Blobfish yesterday. "Not happy, 'arry!"

Dip below the waves with the team, and enjoy a fast-paced and exciting story that will have youngsters gripped.

Charlotte's best bit: Dashi, she's so cute but needs her own adventure! C'mon, make it happen S & S!

Daddy's favourite bit: Easily one of the most impressive home-grown TV shows of recent years, Octonauts is a brilliant mix of excitement and factual stuff.
