A while ago we met adorable little Archie (he IS adorable, everyone says so) and in Tracey Corderoy and Tim Warnes' new book, Archie is slowly learning new words - including the word that strikes fear and terror into every parent as soon as their little darling learns it...
NO!
Cute isn't he? |
Oh dear, someone's not ready for hometime then? |
What Archie, of course, doesn't realise is that just saying no isn't always a good thing. We laughed as we read this book. Charlotte laughed because little Archie is being naughty, and naughty characters in books are always funny as there's a great chance for children to live vicariously through the mischievous little scamps.
This story accurately predicted the British summer perfectly |
Parents laugh and smile for another reason, we've all been there right? We know only too well what it's like when little ones stubbornly dig their heels in and it's lovely to see this drawn out in the book, not just through Tracey's humorous and beautifully observed story but through Tim Warnes' utterly brilliant depiction of Archie and his family and their antics. So what happens in the end? Well we could tell you but we'd rather you discovered Archie's antics, as he's a great little character. Know what though? I have a sneaking suspicion that this isn't the last we'll see of him (knowing wink).
Charlotte's best bit: Archie being naughty at nursery. I hope Charlotte isn't getting any ideas!
Daddy's favourite bit: Beautifully observed toddler behaviour, nicely and humorously written with delicious illustrations to die for. You won't be saying NO! to this one!
