Calm Down, Boris (10th Anniversary Edition) by Sam Lloyd (Templar Publishing)

I am genuinely surprised that there's no ReadItDaddy review for "Calm Down, Boris!" - I checked, I double checked, I triple checked, I even checked down the back of the sofa but none exists! Until now!
This was actually one of the very first books we bought Charlotte back when she was a fidgety little bundle exercising her eyes (and teeth) on books for the first time. This bold board book has a fantastic story, it's knockabout fun but that's not the chief lure. It includes a big fluffy frizzy orange dude, a monster called Boris! Boris (shhh don't tell anyone, but he's a hand puppet) is the star of his very own kissy kissy story - and if there's one sure fire way to catch a tiny baby's attention it's with a big bold and colourful character like this. Both my wife and I perfected our storytelling with Boris performing his trademark frizzy tickly "Kissy Kissy Kissy" at appropriate points during the tale.

I can't believe this book is 10 years old (then again I can't quite believe Charlotte is nearly 8!!) We love this book and it was quite amusing to see a 7 year old squirming with giggling girlish ticklish glee as we told the story to her in exactly the same way we always did (and she still giggles a lot!!)

Our original copy was donated to Charlotte's new baby cousin so it's lovely to have a nice new sparkly-covered version to read through and enjoy once more!

Charlotte's favourite bit: Boris is tickly and giggly, but a brave little monster too!

Daddy's Favourite bit: It's an utter genius idea in book form, a nice big bright tickly monster of your very own to help you read and act out this fabulous knockabout tale. Kissy Kissy KISSY!!!
