Gordon's Great Escape by Sue Hendra and Paul Linnet (Simon and Schuster Children's Books)

Sue and Paul are back and yet again they've come up trumps with a totally brilliant and original new story featuring yet another slightly bonkers character. This time, of all things, it's a happy balloon!
In "Gordon's Great Escape" Gordon doesn't start life as a big bouncy chap. He starts off as most balloons do, a slightly sad looking deflated thing nestling in a pack with all his brothers and sisters.

Gordon is bound for greatness though and soon he's ready to shine. Pumped up and full of air, ready to float like a butterfly, Gordon sets off for Balloon School (which is hilarious btw!) and soon finds a home with a rather playful little girl - with a dark dark secret, and some really odd pets!

Gordon, quite rightly, makes a run (or bob) for it, and again finds a new home. But even life as a magician's assistant is fraught with danger and the threat of being popped.

At last though, after yet another timely escape, Gordon finds a home with the circus and life couldn't be better until....

Ack, spoilers baby, spoilers! This book is an absolute riot. Each and every single time Sue and Paul come up with a new book, you are guaranteed to be hooting with laughter by the end. Gordon joins Supertato, No-Bot and Barry the Fish with Fingers becoming an instantly likeable character in a book that's absolutely perfect for your little nippers!

"Gordon's Great Escape" by Sue Hendra and Paul Linnet is out now, published by Simon and Schuster Children's Books.
