All the Wild Wonders by Wendy Cooling, Piet Grobler and various poets (Frances Lincoln Children's Books)

Beautiful poems to celebrate our wonderful planet? Well what could be better as nature begins to come back to life in spring and summer...

"All the Wild Wonders: Poems of our Earth" is a fantastic poetry compilation put together by a legend in children's publishing. Wendy Cooling is a former teacher, and founder of the national Bookstart programme. She has edited many story collections and poetry anthologies, has retold traditional tales, and is a highly-respected reviewer and commentator on children's books.

Here she collects together an amazing roster of glorious verse, illustrated by Piet Grobler.

Obviously the great outdoors is a subject very dear to our hearts, so we loved diving into a collection of poems that have an optimistic outlook as well as several that highlight the dangers of taking our home planet for granted.

"Snaggers Pond", a glorious and imaginative description of how we can turn things around and make our world beautiful again.
Children feature throughout the verses of course, and mother nature in all her beauty takes a starring role.

Here comes the sun (hopefully!)
Wendy's selections are perfect, and Piet's child-friendly artwork makes you long for hot lazy summer days.

"All the Wild Wonders" by Wendy Cooling and Piet Grobler is out now, published by Frances Lincoln Children's Books (kindly supplied for review).
