"Sofa Dog" by Leonie Lord (Alison Green Books)

Cor, there'd be none of this 'dogs on the sofa' in my day, it was strictly not allowed...!
But in "Sofa Dog" the titular pooch enjoys all the comforts of home, and the world's bounciest most comfortable settee.

Sofa Dog is pretty adamant that the only person who is (grudgingly) allowed to share his favourite seat is his human Sophie.

But of course, when the neighbour's cats come in for some fuss, and Sophie's aunties come round for a knitting session, where else is there to sit?

Before long, poor Sofa Dog begins to feel the squeeze - literally, as lots of visitors all take up space on the sofa - along with a tiny flea (who doesn't take up that much space but is HUGELY IRRITATING!)

Leonie Lord's fabulous little picture book is a fun and gentle tale reminiscent of Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler's "A Squash and a Squeeze".

If you've ever been shunted to the end of your favourite comfy seat by family (Charlotte will probably tell you all about this if you give her half a chance) then you're going to love this waggy and fun poochy tale.

Charlotte's best bit: An Orang-Utan Oompah Band! What's not to like about that!

Daddy's favourite bit: That classic picture book strength, a simple story beautifully told and illustrated - and who can resist Sofa Dog's complete cuteness.
