The hugely impressive "Maths Quest" series gets four exciting new books. Choose your own adventure! It's MATHEMATICAL!

If there's one thing guaranteed to elicit a heavy sigh from Charlotte, it's the thought of maths homework. It feels like she has to do so much of it (at least three times a week) and though she's actually very good at maths, she absolutely hates it!
So imagine how cool it would be to give Maths a serious shot in the arm, with a series of amazing books that provide exciting adventures wrapped around maths.

These instantly impressed Charlotte, largely due to the amazing cover illustrations from each of the artists, and the various different illustrative styles. The already highly successful Maths Quest series really has been polished to a high sheen with a selection of four new books to add to the original lineup (you can find details of all the Maths Quest books here on the QED Website).

We took a closer look at all four, starting off with "Lost in the Fourth Dimension" which is an awesome sci fi adventure set on a crusty planetoid after your spaceship inadvertently crash lands.

This book deals with measurement and distance, and each question is designed to take your quest on a different route, depending on your answers. It works a lot like those awesome "Choose your own adventure" books - only this time the choices are the answers to maths problems.

Thankfully these are so neatly done that none of it feels 'schooly' - It's great fun to work through the books and see if you can make it all the way to the end of the adventure without getting frizzled!

There's also "Escape from Hotel Infinity" - again with a similar presentation of working your way through a mystery by solving maths questions, this time with number skills and problem solving.

As you can see, the books are beautifully presented and illustrated, and it'd be fantastic to see these being used in schools as well as at home.

You can also choose "Attack on Circuit City" which deals with statistics and problem solving, or "The Island of Tomorrow" which dips into the subject of Geometry.
