Out Today! "Audrey the Inventor" by Rachel Valentine and Katie Weymouth (Words and Pictures)

Have you ever had a brilliant idea for a labour-saving gadget or wanted to invent something that could change the world...?
We love the boundless imagination of kids when they sit down to create something and in "Audrey the Amazing Inventor" by Rachel Valentine and Katie Weymouth we meet a little girl whose brain is positively FIZZING with ideas.

Audrey is determined to be an inventor, but her inventions aren't always successful. Sometimes they're messy, sometimes they're chaotic and sometimes they cause more trouble than their worth, even trying the patience of her ever-faithful companion Happy Cat.

Audrey sometimes wonders whether it's all worth the effort, but true greatness could just be around the corner - and with a few encouraging words and a good dose of advice Audrey is ready for one last invention, possibly her greatest yet!

The book is full of the most wonderful illustrations, and who couldn't help but fall in love with Audrey's hair
We love Audrey as a character, full of amazing energy and bright ideas - but at the start just missing that vital ingredient of self-belief that does eventually tease out as the story unfolds.

All good ideas start with a drawing. Never give up drawing, kids! Always always keep drawing!
Such a wonderful positive story full of fun and with such a heartwarming core message. Really love it!

Audrey wants to be an inventor and nothing can stop her! Hooray!
C's best bit: Thinking up and drawing her own invention ideas, inspired by the book.

Daddy's favourite bit: A wonderful positive message about believing in yourself and looking for inspiration and ideas in the world around you. Absolutely brill!
