Publishers The History Press are new to us, but we've really enjoyed taking a look through their amazing list of titles - in particular the fantastic "Once Upon a Street: Norfolk Stories for Children" by Isabelle King and John McKeever.

Growing up as a child, with a grandmother who came from Norfolk, I remember her telling me stories that were drawn from the Norfolk and Suffolk tradition of relating local oral history, handing down tales from generation to generation - and this book is one of a series of localised anthologies turning those rich stories into brilliant reads.

Tales that stem from Edwardian Great Yarmouth, still a bustling seaside town even today, to Kings Lynn and its traditional street fair.

You'll find stories of magical medieval dragons and marvellous mice, a musical owl and a Tudor queen - and many, many more gathered together and curated by Isabelle with gorgeous characterful illustrations from John.

 Inspired by collections at the Norfolk Heritage Centre and  by that aforementioned rich history of Norfolk streets, this book is a brilliant read for folk who are familiar with the broads and those who are discovering this amazing place for the first time.
