Lulu is 10! Celebrate a fabulous and effervescent little girl's adventures courtesy of Alanna Books

We do love a book character who positively explodes with Joie De Vivre so it's no big surprise that we really loved Lulu. In "Lulu Loves Flowers"  by Anna McQuinn and Rosalind Beardshaw, we saw Lulu venturing out into the garden to plant lovely flowers and seeds.

Lulu is celebrating her 10th birthday this year and we're joining Anna, Rosalind and Alanna Books to wish this fabulous little girl a big boppin' happy birthday!

So let's take a closer look at Lulu and her adventures!

In "Lulu Loves the Library", Lulu is in our favourite place! Naturally we love any book that champions the fantastic stories you can borrow from your local library, and Lulu soon discovers that books are her most favourite thing!

One of the things we also really loved about the Lulu books was the fact that Dad was there, and it's so important to see a dad character in children's books that isn't some sort of hopeless comedy prop or klutz! Here's Lulu and Dad from "Lulu Loves Flowers"

Silver bells to make a garden truly lovely in "Lulu Loves Flowers"

Mum isn't left out either! Lulu and mum love to bake!

Yummy cupcakes!
Mum also loves reading poems to Lulu, curled up in their favourite chair together.

There's so much to love about these books, they're stunning and beautiful and your little tiddlers are going to fall in love with Lulu as much as we did.

Visit the fantastic Alanna Books website for some ace activities and more Lulu fun.

Lulu Loves Flowers by Anna McQuinn and Rosalind Beardshaw (Alanna Books)

One look at this book's joyful cover will be enough to convince you that spring is on the way, and there's no better time to dive out into the garden and start planning what to plant and where to plant it.

Adorable Lulu loves getting out into the garden with her mum, and we share her enjoyment as Lulu is given her own crop of seeds and starts planting them, watering them and weeding around them.

Be patient Lulu, because when the sun begins to shine, those little seedlings can turn into something quite spectacular! Encouraging children to have a go and grow their own flowers, fruit and vegetables is a simple thing we can all do and we just loved how celebratory the Lulu books are about something that takes a little effort and perhaps a little bit of a wait, but reaps such amazing rewards (unless you're me, I am so not green fingered in any way but thankfully Mummy and Charlotte are!)

Join in with the fun with Lulu, she's our kinda gal!

Charlotte's best bit: Wonderful wonderful sunflowers explode into life to reward Lulu for her efforts! Hooray!

Daddy's Favourite bit: An adorable little girl growing her own flowers for the first time in a simple but really enjoyable story from Anna and Rosalind. Superb!
