The Squirrels Who Squabbled by Rachel Bright and Jim Field (Orchard Books)

Squirrels! Such cuddly cute and usually placid creatures, until that is two squirrelly friends fall out over the last nut...
A great set up for "The Squirrels Who Squabbled" by Rachel Bright and Jim Field, Bruce and Cyril both have their sights on a very special comestible. It's not just any nut, it's the last nut of the season and both are determined that nut is going to go straight in their bellies!

So begins a madcap and chaotic chase around the forest as the nut eludes their grasp.

Over hill and dale, through trees and over rocks, pinging off the nose of a sleepy bear. The nut slides, slithers and bounces out of their tiny little claws making Bruce and Cyril ever more frustrated and angry with each other and themselves...

Life in the forest is glorious and idyllic...until two friends set their sights on the last nut of the season
This hilarious race and chase is not only funny, but it's a real thing of beauty to look at - particularly if (like us) Autumn is your favourite season of all!

Glorious autumnal landscapes in this book. Can we go and live in this forest please?
So what happens to Bruce and Cyril? Will they snag that nut or will they go on a learning journey about themselves that might just change their attitudes to each other too...

Ping, Boing, Bounce. The nut stays shut (oh wait, that's an entirely different book!)
Utterly fab stuff from Rachel and Jim.

"The Squirrels Who Squabbled" by Rachel Bright and Jim Field is out now, published by Orchard Books (kindly supplied for review).
