Two fantastic new Non-Fiction titles from Walker Studios. Celebrating amazing birds and fantastic cities.

Two new fantastic Non-Fiction titles have caught our eye this week, coming from fairly newly established Non Fic imprint Walker Studios.

First up is "Magnificent Birds" by Narisa Togo.

Discover incredible birds from around the world with this exquisite picture book.

From the bird-of-paradise that performs its extravagantly colourful courtship dance in the rainforest to the bar-tailed godwit that flies thousands of miles across the ocean without stopping, explore the world of magnificent birds in this beautiful gift book, created in association with the RSPB.

Narisa Togo's stunning, stylish lino-cut prints capture the beauty and the drama of these wonderful winged creatures, making this a non-fiction book like no other.
We fell completely in love with the presentation of this book, which harks back to great Non-Fiction titles I remember when I was a kidlet...

Who can resist a penguin? The Emperor Penguin (no dancing going on here though!)
Also from Walker Studios is another stylish non-fiction title celebrating our amazing cities around the world.

"A World of Cities" by James Brown and Lily Murray gathers together a ton of facts and figures about some of the most amazing cities on the planet, in a cool "Travelogue" style set of illustrations.

From New York to Paris, London to Amsterdam and far beyond, each page spread opens out into a gigantic 'poster' detailing each destination.

I think the only slightly negative thing we'd have to say about this one is that the page 'split' in the middle feels like it gets in the way of enjoying each of the illustrations to the full (I can imagine this book as a proper poster book being a truly stunning addition to someone's collection, particularly useful in classrooms and schools where those page spreads would make truly stunning works of art to stick on the walls).

Nevertheless it's a fab title, and Walker Studios look like they're going to be another amazing non-fiction imprint to watch out for in the coming year.

"Magnificent Birds" and "A World of Cities" are both out now, published by Walker Studios (kindly supplied for review).
