"Oskar Can" by Britta Teckentrup (Prestel Publishing)
We're big fans of Britta Teckentrup's work, particularly her simple yet brilliantly observed stories for younger children..."Oskar Can" is a welcome return for the busy, curious and active little crow.
Oskar loves lots of things, but he really loves to play - and make friends.
Oskar can skateboard and ski, Oskar can stack his pile of pebbles the highest.
Whenever Oskar is feeling a bit sad or perhaps even a bit ordinary, he thinks of all the amazing things he can do that make him - well, Oskar!
It's a great message for kids, always increasingly under pressure to feel that they have to perform well in school, or impress their parents - perhaps needlessly so, as we all treasure the things they do that they sometimes themselves may take for granted.
Oskar is one clever crow! |
