My Dad by Steve Smallman and Sean Julian (Little Tiger Press)

We're coming at you thick and fast today with more #readitmd13 'Dad book' reviews. You may be forgiven for thinking that Little Tiger Press have cornered the market in books that you can slide into your dad's present pile on Fathers Day (Sunday June 16th!) There are some truly brilliant books in their range and we're a sucker for Steve Smallman's work, so let's take a look at "My Dad".

In a similar vein to "To Dad - You're a Star" once again the book celebrates all the brilliant things that dads do.

This time, with Sean Julian's fuzzy cuddly animal drawings we get some great double spreads of animals and their dads - everything from the cuddliest bear cubs to the roaringest lions.

It's lots of fun and nicely written in rhyme so if you're looking for a book that has great bedtime reading appeal long beyond Father's Day this one would definitely fit the bill.

Charlotte's best bit: Dad helping out while learning to ride a bike

Daddy's favourite bit: Awww, very cute illustration for dad's healing abilities.

To Dad - You're a Star by Josephine Collins and Jill Latter (Little Tiger Press)

We continue our #ReadItMD13 theme week of celebrating brilliant dads with more ideas for Father's Day book purchases. Here's a snuggly little book that's just right as an extra pressie to sneak in, which of course can be cuddled up with and enjoyed by dads and kids of all ages.

Paying homage to all the things us dads do, it's a sweet and sentimental look at dad life through a child's eyes and the perfect way for your child to say 'thank you' to their awesome dad.

With a lovely presented cover and excellent illustrations, it's a great book for early readers to read out to  their dads just before giving them what dads really want for father's day - a great big hug!

Charlotte's best bit: Dad being there to give awesome shoulder carries (I do still manage to do this but she's getting SO BIG now!)

Daddy's favourite bit: It's a very sweet little book. If you're a big old softie like me it might have you dabbing at your eyes.

If Dinosaurs Were Alive Today by Dougal Dixon (TickTock Media)

We've been lucky enough to be sent a couple of really 'Dad-friendly' books just in time for our special #ReadItMD13 theme week running up to Father's Day.

Most dads love dinosaurs, and all kids definitely love the thought that once upon a time in earth's timeline, huge slavering beasts stomped the earth and ruled supreme.

Most kids will also wonder what it would be like to have a pet Tyrannosaur, or perhaps share the swimming pool with a couple of Plesiosaurs. Perhaps they've even mused what Heathrow Airport would be like if Pterosaurs whizzed around while planes were trying to take off.

Wonder no more, in this excellent book you'll find a brilliant mix of facts and photoshop as illustrations try to depict what might happen if we bring prehistoric life back from the dead to once again roam the earth.

Charlotte has a love hate relationship with dinosaurs. She loves anything booky to do with them, but when we go to museums or displays that show huge mock-ups of the beasts, she's still a little bit scared of them (the huge moving displays at the Natural History Museum in London were a bit TOO realistic for her!)

Bones are OK though!

This is a fab book for dads (and mums) to share with their kids. Bold illustrations, sensational ideas and a good dose of science too. Perfect AND prehistoric!

Charlotte's best bit: The rather gruesome face-offs between wild animals and dinosaurs. Ever seen a Lion take on Raptors? Now's your chance!

Daddy's favourite bit: This is a brilliant way to engage reluctant readers. A book that's full of factual science but a whole ton of exciting 'what ifs' too.

My Daddy is a Pretzel (Yoga for Parents and Kids) by Baron Baptiste and Sophie Fatus (Barefoot Books)

Kicking off our #ReadItMD13 week-long celebration of daddy bookishness we thought we'd limber up with some exercises. Now, I know some of you probably can't touch your toes (some of you may not even be able to SEE your toes) but if you fancy shifting some of those pounds put on from secretly scoffing those left-over Easter Eggs, now's the time.

"My Daddy is a Pretzel" is a beautifully written and illustrated story that also just happens to be a cool Yoga manual too. A young child talks about their classmates and what their parents do - but that's nothing, because their daddy can be a tree, a dog, or even a pretzel! If you've never encountered any Yoga moves before, here's a fantastic way to learn some of the basics and also some fairly limb-twistingly complicated Yoga poses too.

We've previously used the "Yoga Pretzel" cards from Barefoot Books, and they're also great fun - used in varying degrees of difficulty and also - like this book - much better when turned into a group activity for dads AND mums (yes mum stop sniggering from the sofa, you can join in too!)

It's a book that's effortlessly cool and tremendously good fun. Find yourself a nice sunny spot while the weather is glorious, lay down a mat and see if you can be a pretzel too!

Charlotte's best bit: I have no idea how she does it but she can actually touch the back of her head with her feet while doing the Down Dog.

Daddy's favourite bit: I don't feel quite as unfit as I used to, I can (alarmingly) still stand on one leg without falling over. Just.
